FAQ

Q. Why Should I Be Baptized?

We see four Biblical reasons:
1. To Follow Christ's Example. ( Mark 1:9)
2. Because Jesus Commanded it. (Matt. 28:19-20)
3. It demonstrates the reality of my salvation.  (Acts 18:8)
4. It identifies me with a local church. (Acts 2:41, 47)
Q. Who should be baptized

Every person who has believed in Jesus Christ.
1. Baptism does not make you a believer — it shows that you already believe.
2. Baptism does not "save" you; only God's grace received through faith can do that.
3. Baptism is like the wedding ring — an outward symbol of an inner commitment the believer has already made in their heart.
Q. What is the meaning/purpose of baptism?

The purpose of baptism is to give visual testimony of our commitment to Christ.
Baptism is the first step of discipleship.
1. It illustrates Christ's death, burial, and resurrection. (Romans 6:4, 1 Cor. 5:3-4, Col. 2:12)
2. It illustrates my union with the body of Christ. (1 Cor. 12:13)
3. It illustrates my new life as a Christian. ( Romans 6:4, 2 Cor. 5:17)
Q. Does MBC baptize Children/Babies?

Yes and no.
The Bible teaches very clearly that each individual must make their own decision to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. That decision cannot be made by someone else. At MBC we are committed to doing things God's way according to the Bible — therefore we wait until our children are old enough to make their own decision to receive Christ as their Savior. We also make sure that they understand the true meaning of baptism before we baptize them.
