Be Faithful
“His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’" Matthew 25:23
Are you a faithful steward of what has been entrusted to you by the Lord? What has God entrusted to you? Everything that's good, (children, health, family, talents, time, treasure, instruction) in your life is from the Lord (James 1:16-18). Among the many blessings, we've been entrusted with "instructions" from the Lord (Philippians 2:14-16). Are we “holding fast to the word of life” or are we going our own way? God will guide you in areas like career choices, ministry opportunities, and dating relationships, but your first priority is to faithfully obey the revealed will of God found in the word of God (Matthew 6:33). And as you make it a priority to cultivate a relationship with God through prayer and the Word so that you might trust and obey Him, He will guide you through the Spirit in every area of your life.
As one bible teacher put it, “God’s promise to give guidance in the areas that scriptures don’t address is extended to those who obey Him in the areas the scriptures do address. If you’re the kind of person who is praying for God’s wisdom in some decision over here about a job, a relationship or future plan, and yet you got some area back here where you are living in defiance to what God has clearly said, you need to stop talking about this, because God doesn’t want to talk about this until you have dealt with that. We have couples that are sometimes praying about their future, while they’re living together and are not married. I’m like, why are you talking to God about His direction over there when you’re clearly disobeying Him back here. God’s like, 'I’m not going to tell you what scripture doesn’t address until you’re humble enough to obey what it does address'” (J.D. Greear).
When we got saved, God didn’t give us a road map of every twist and turn we are to take in life. Instead, He gave us a relationship with Him through Christ by which we can trust Him to guide us day by day.
Be faithful in those areas that the scriptures clearly address and the Lord will guide you in all areas that the scriptures don't address. God doesn't appreciate what He doesn't initiate. But where He guides, He provides. He will provide everything we need to fulfill His calling upon our lives and the grace to endure the trials of life (James 1:2-3; 2 Thess. 1:11). A faith that can’t be tested can’t be trusted. Be faithful to the end. Joy awaits!
Blessings,
Pastor Marco
