What is God's Will for Your Life?

“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." Romans 12:1-2

Do you care to discern God's direction for your life? Many don't. If you don't, you are on a path that leads to eternal ruin. There are many who would claim that they are seeking to discern God's direction for their lives. But often the direction that people seek has to do with matters that are not specifically addressed in the scriptures. In other words, they seek direction about career choices, dating, where to buy a house, vocational ministry, etc. God can providentially lead us in areas of our lives that are not specifically addressed in the scriptures, however, often the way that God leads us in the areas that the Bible doesn't address, is when we are obeying the areas that the scriptures do address. When we devote ourselves to the worship of God, which requires that we obey the written Word of God, we will discern the unwritten will of God for our lives. Those who know Christ as their Lord and Savior not only hear His voice, but they follow Him. (John 10:27). The Shepherd leads us in the path of righteousness for His name sake (Psalm 23). But there's another path that many are on today, namely a path of independence from God. It's a path that leads to eternal separation from God, which is essentially getting in death what you desired in life (Matthew 7:13-14; Romans 6:23).

God's word says to His people, “I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live, loving the Lord your God, obeying his voice and holding fast to him, for he is your life and length of days, that you may dwell in the land that the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them" (Deuteronomy 30:19-20).

To the New Testament believer, obeying God's voice doesn't guarantee that you will not experience trouble in this life, but it does promise that He will get in trouble with you (John 16:33; Daniel 3:24-25). And in the end, you will never regret having obeyed the voice of God (Matthew 25:23). “He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?”‭‭ (Romans‬ ‭8:32‬)

Devote yourself to the worship of God, and you will not only discern the will of God, but He will give you the grace to work for His kingdom to the glory of Christ Jesus.
