There's more to the story of Pilate, Jesus, and Barabbas than you may have previously known. In this passage we see an emphasis on the innocence of Jesus, the peculiarity of bloodthirsty Pilate recognizing His innocence, and the deeper meaning of Barabbas' role here in the context of Jesus fulfilling the Passover and Day of Atonement.
