In Luke 12:13-34, Jesus was not saying that it’s wrong to purchase a house or to own a car. He’s not saying that it’s a sin to own material things. The problem comes when material possessions possess us and blind us to the things that truly matter. What you treasure most will shape your deepest longings--and your deepest longings will determine the course and destiny of your life.
